3 year contract signed?

Sources out of Olivet have confirmed that the team has unofficially come to an agreement with an unnamed player on a 3 year deal worth to be about 48 million fake dollars. With the draft about 14 hours away, one has to wonder how a deal like this can be done when there's no sure bet that this unnamed player will fall to the team at 1.5

"We do what we want when we want, and we decided it would be easier to just sign this player rather than wait for the draft. We've seen him mash the ball for years and years now and didnt want to chance him going in the top 4! So we took matters into our own hands"

"I can dh for any mlb team and lead the league in home runs, just give me the chance"

That was all the Eagles front office needed to hear, let us introduce our DH for 2011

Decisions Decisions

With the Eagles sitting at pick 1.5 there will be a few options. There wasnt much debate early on as to who the Eagles traded up to get but after the Winter Meetings and several picks changing it appears the team's plan has been derailed. Now, GM Larry D Baker Jr has to make a decision going forward for the team.

So who will it be?

Winter Meeting Bonanza

The final move may have been done this morning as the Olivet Killer Eagles parted ways with young SP Edwin Jackson in return for pick #5.1 in the 2011 eMLB draft. Unless someone calls the team regarding JA Happ or Rich Harden, the Eagles appear to be done wheeling and dealing until after the upcoming draft.

The Eagles shed two three year contracts by moving Butler and Ethier, and two 2 year contracts with Liriano, and Jackson.

The survivors were Michael Cuddyer, JA Happ, Rich Harden, Mike Gonzalez, and Vladdy Guerrero.

The Eagles look to build a solid core in this years draft, hoping to continue building into 2012. Now the team is shifting their focus to the 2011 draft, mapping out what is sure to be a very interesting first round.

Is Edwin Jackson on his way out too?

Reports out of Olivet indicate that the team will be shopping the young SP for either a draft pick or infield depth. The team has already shipped out Andre Ethier, Billy Butler, and Francisco Liriano early on in the winter meetings and it appears Jackson will follow. When asked about the teams recent activity GM Baker only had this to say "You know, its like I bought a foreclosure and I'm gutting it out from the ground up. Only, this mess was made with poor decisions on my part"

Edwin Jackson finished 2010 with a 10-12 record, 4.47 ERA and 181 strikeouts. But the more telling stat is his 2nd half where he had a 3.90 ERA and 91 K's in 92 IP (compared to 90 Ks in first 117 IP) Is a solid 3rd SP with upside of a #2

In other news, Drew Stubbs has officially been introduced as an Eagle but a source from the Detroit Free Press claims that Stubbs MAY be the next coach at the University of Michigan
